Mount Barker is a flourishing regional centre in the Adelaide Hills, located just 33 km southeast of Adelaide, with a 2021 urban population of 21,554—and ranking among South Australia’s fastest-growing areas.

Set amid vineyards, farms, and native flora, Mount Barker offers abundant outdoor attractions: Laratinga Wetlands trails, Keith Stephenson Park, and panoramic walks to Mount Barker Summit. The area also boasts a vibrant food & wine scene with cellar doors, breweries, and farmers markets.
Well connected via the South Eastern Freeway/Heysen Tunnels to Adelaide, the town supports daily SA Metro and regional bus services, including a Park & Ride hub. While there is no passenger rail, increasing traffic and piecemeal road expansions have created congestion concerns . The upcoming Heysen Boulevard link aims to ease movement, supported by $5 m in state funding
